A Look Back at IFMA Spotlight 2026 in Basel

The IFMA Spotlight: MOON SHOTS – Real Estate & Facility Management once again brought together professionals from Facility Management and Corporate Real Estate in Basel. On January 20, 2026, the community met at the Congress Center Basel to exchange perspectives on technological developments that are already shaping Facility Management today and will continue to do so  in the years ahead.

In this article, we look back at the speedikon Group’s participation, the topics that sparked the most interest, and the conversations that made IFMA Spotlight 2026 such a valuable event.

Topics That Shaped the Conversations

Artificial intelligence was a central theme throughout the entire day. Many discussions focused on how AI can be used practically and meaningfully in Facility Management – not as a distant future vision, but as a tool that already supports daily operations.

These discussions were clearly reflected in the topics highlighted at the speedikon Group’s stand. One solution that attracted particularly strong interest was speedikon VIP (Visual Intelligence Platform). Visitors were especially impressed by how complex data can be visualized clearly and how different information sources are brought together in one, centralized view. Concrete use cases and real-life applications helped many participants better understand how these solutions could be applied within their own organisations and why visualisation plays such a crucial role in decision-making.

Key Challenges in Facility Management

Beyond classic CAFM topics, the speedikon Group also addressed forward-looking issues such as operator responsibility, lifecycle management, and space optimization. These areas are essential for the sustainable, efficient, and compliant operation of buildings and assets. Many participants identified them as core challenges in their daily work.

Exchange, Practical Relevance, and Integrated Solutions

The stand itself became a place for open and practical exchange. Visitors responded very positively to the flexibility of speedikon® C and the clarity of its central dashboards. The ability to gain quick overviews, supported by clear visualization and intuitive traffic-light logic, was repeatedly highlighted as a key requirement in everyday Facility Management.

There was also a strong interest in modular and scalable solutions. Many visitors expressed a desire to move away from isolated systems and instead adopt integrated approaches that reduce complexity rather than add to it.

Group’s mascot Charly was also part of many conversations. He contributed to an open and welcoming atmosphere at the stand while also illustrating how important visualization is for acceptance and understanding.
