The security vulnerabilities in the PHP programming language disclosed yesterday have prompted warnings from cybersecurity authorities. Numerous organisations have taken their websites and online services offline as a precaution. In Germany, several public institutions and organisations also temporarily shut down their websites following warnings from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
The incident highlights the importance of understanding the technologies and technical dependencies behind business-critical software.
Understanding the Security Risks
The two vulnerabilities, identified as CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, affect PHP, a widely used programming language found in many web applications and content management systems.
According to the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), the vulnerabilities could allow attackers to execute malicious code remotely on vulnerable servers without authentication. Security updates were released on 21 October 2026.
To respond appropriately to security incidents of this kind, companies need to know which technologies are used in their software environments. This includes third-party components and technical dependencies. Only then can they determine which systems may be affected and what measures are necessary.
What Does This Mean for the C Platform?
The C Platform from speedikon FM AG does not use PHP and is therefore not affected by the PHP vulnerabilities currently being reported.
Regardless of the current incident, IT security plays an important role in the architecture and operation of the C Platform. Protecting business-critical information involves more than the technologies used. It also requires effective access controls, regular security assessments and the flexibility to configure IT infrastructure according to an organisation’s specific requirements.
Security and Digital Sovereignty
The C Platform offers a range of features and measures designed to support IT security and digital sovereignty.
Regular security assessments and penetration tests help identify potential vulnerabilities at an early stage and continuously evaluate the platform’s security.
Identity and Access Management enables organisations to manage user identities and access permissions. The architecture also supports the separation of different organisational units.
Flexible deployment options allow the C Platform to run on premises, in a private cloud or as part of an existing IT infrastructure strategy. This gives organisations control over where their data is stored, how security policies are implemented and how the platform integrates with existing systems.
Independence from individual hyperscale cloud providers also supports digital sovereignty and provides greater flexibility when designing IT infrastructure.
IT Security Requires Continuous Attention
The recently disclosed PHP vulnerabilities demonstrate the importance of understanding the technical foundations of enterprise software and maintaining appropriate security measures over time.
Regular security assessments, clearly defined access permissions and control over IT infrastructure are essential for managing security risks in the long term.
Security, reliable data management and the responsible use of technology are also important principles across the speedikon Group’s solution portfolio, helping organisations digitalise their processes.
