In our \u201cFeature Spotlight\u201d series, we regularly introduce individual functionalities from the various software solutions within the speedikon FM group and show how they support the everyday work of our customers.<\/p>\n

This time, the focus is on a feature within FRAMENCE<\/a> that solves a challenge that appears in countless projects: obtaining reliable distance measurements in existing facilities.<\/p>\n

In practice, this often sounds simpler than it is. Dimensions are missing, outdated, or inconsistent across different documents. A machine is supposed to be replaced, but nobody is certain whether the new system will actually fit through existing structures. Pipe clearances need to be checked, distances between components verified, or available installation space assessed before planning can continue.<\/p>\n

In many cases, the only way to clarify these questions is another site visit.<\/p>\n

That means coordinating appointments, traveling to the facility, manually taking measurements, documenting the results, and transferring the information back into planning processes afterwards. Especially in large industrial environments, critical infrastructure, or internationally distributed sites, this quickly becomes time-consuming and expensive.<\/p>\n

At the same time, inaccurate or missing measurements can lead to far more serious consequences. Installation plans may need to be adjusted late in the project, deliveries delayed, or components reworked because spatial conditions on site differ from assumptions made during planning.<\/p>\n

This is exactly where the measurement feature in FRAMENCE changes the entire process.<\/p>\n

Within FRAMENCE, users can perform precise measurements directly inside the photorealistic digital twin. Distances, lengths, heights, and object dimensions can be measured with a single click, directly within the visual representation of the real environment.<\/p>\n

Instead of relying on assumptions or separate documentation, teams work directly within the actual spatial context of the facility.<\/p>\n

For example, engineers can verify whether a new asset fits into an existing production area before installation begins. Maintenance teams can check clearances around equipment remotely. External partners and suppliers can better prepare interventions without requiring repeated visits to the site.<\/p>\n

The functionality works similarly to measuring inside a highly precise \u201cstreet view\u201d of the facility, but with millimeter accuracy and full spatial context.<\/p>\n

Instead of interpreting technical drawings or comparing isolated data sources, everyone works from the same up-to-date view of the environment. This improves communication across disciplines, simplifies decision-making, and helps identify potential planning conflicts earlier in the process.<\/p>\n
